Excerpt…
…of how we roll.
YS: E, is it just me or do you feel like we haven’t been on a date, a real date, since 2011 began?
E: What are you talking about? Remember the time we visited our wedding location and then walked around Jeweler’s Row shopping for rings? And that weekend where we spent the morning in pre-marital counseling and the afternoon taking engagement photos? We were together the whooole day; plus, we ate dinner together too!
YS: Those aren’t dates! We were just incidentally spending time together while getting wedding stuff done! I haven’t planned a nice date for you in a long time! That’s it. I’m planning us a roadtrip to Austin!
E: Really?? COOOOL! …After we tackle wedding to-do X Y and Z, right?
::Commence 500 google searches of “Things to do in Austin” and “Free things in Austin” etc.::
E: YS, I wanna go shopping in Famous Shopping District X and then go swimming at Natural Water Hole Y and visit Free Awesome Museum Z!!
YS (emails back): I looked up some stuff to do, and since I would LOVE to watch millions of bats feasting on thousands of pounds of insects, I was thinking about what would be the best way to do that and get you involved, up close.
Conclusion: I may not be able to go swimming at a natural water hole, but we’re gonna kayak down the river where the bats fly by (gets close enough to water for me!). We may not have time to shop in Cool Urban Shopping District during the day, but we’ll definitely go at night when District transforms into its famed vibrant night life. And seeing the Original Gutenberg Bible at Free Museum would be cool, but who could pass up watching a horde of blind creatures (bats) fly from cave A to cave B as they consume millions of bugs?? Not I, and not he!
Sometimes Oftentimes, our interests are so very different. But if you’re cool like YS, you’ll always find the perfect common ground. :)
